Body awareness through touch
This exercise encourages participants to explore the therapeutic power of self-touch as a means to deepen body awareness and connect emotionally with themselves. Begin by sitting comfortably in a quiet and safe space. Take a moment to notice your surroundings, including the temperature, atmosphere, and energy of the room. Gradually shift your awareness inward, exploring sensations in different parts of your body. Start with your hands, pressing your palms together and observing sensations like warmth or pressure. Then, move to your arms, shoulders, and face, gently massaging or holding each area. Avoid labeling or judging the sensations; simply acknowledge them. Conclude the exercise by thanking your body for its support and resilience, fostering a sense of gratitude and connection.
This resource is inspired by Martine van der Meulen’s work as a hypnotherapist and bodyworker, presented during the Source4Success Community Meeting (November 2023). It integrates principles of body awareness and the therapeutic power of touch.
