Grounding through cleaning
Grounding Through Cleaning is a mindfulness practice that helps trainers prepare for a session by creating a calm and focused environment. This exercise combines physical tidying with mental clarity, ensuring both the trainer and participants feel relaxed and ready to connect.
Before the session, take 10–20 minutes to clean and organize the room where the training will take place. Mindfully wipe surfaces, arrange seating, and remove clutter, focusing on each action with intention. As you clean, take deep breaths and notice the sensations of movement, touch, and sound, allowing yourself to be fully present in the moment.
This practice clears not only the physical space but also your mental space, reducing stress and helping you feel grounded. A tidy and welcoming environment also creates a sense of calm for participants, enhancing focus and fostering a positive atmosphere for learning and connection.
This resource is inspired by Thich Nhat Hanh’s teachings on Mindfulness in Everyday Tasks, emphasizing the calming and grounding effects of being present during simple actions.
